                        "what to drink with seafood"

                        Wantirna Estate Isabella Chardonnay 2009

Nestled on the inside edge of the Yarra Valley, Wantirna Estate is one of the oldest of the modern producers, planted in 1963. Reg and Bertina Egan planted the vineyard and now daughter Maryann handles most of the winemaking. The '09 Isabella is perfect drinking now, smelling of fig and lemon curd with spicy oak that's neatly integrated. Builds on the palate, rich, layered and complex but not overworked, with nutty, mealy overtones adding to its texture. Has a super-long finish.
